SFM Super Scamp – one of a range of harvesting machines designed to meet the harvesting requirements of small scale growers up to those of the largest commercial orchards.
The Super Scamp is a pedestrian operated, self-propelled harvesting machine ideally suited to small orchards of up to 20 acres and will readily harvest up to 600 tonnes of fruit per season. A daily harvesting capacity of 20-30 tonnes of windrowed fruit makes this an ideal and economical machine for the smaller grower.
The machine features a transaxle gearbox with 3 forward and 1 reverse gear. Powered by an eight horsepower Honda petrol engine, its centrifugal clutch allows the machine to be operated fully through the throttle control. The machine is fitted with a tiller steering system making it particularly manoeuvrable and capable of working effectively in virtually any conditions.
The fruit is harvested using an 800 mm wide pick-up system. The fruit is cleaned by SFM’s unique plough cleaner which discharges the debris from the rear of the machine whilst the fruit is diverted onto the elevator. From the elevator the fruit is deposited into a low level purpose-built trailer towed alongside the Super Scamp during harvesting.
This system ensures a continuous pick-up allowing the 2 tonnes capacity trailer to be filled efficiently. For gathering fruit in confined spaces the elevator can be easily removed to allow the fruit to be collected in 40 litre capacity baskets with optional side platform.
The grower and operator can expect to obtain the following benefits from the Super Scamp apple harvester:
• Good manoeuvrability
• Economical to operate
• Compact design suitable for confined spaces
• Ergonomic hand operated controls
• Field proven reliability
• Versatile – suitable for harvesting in most conditions
• Flexibility – allows continuous harvesting or batch collection using optional baskets where conditions dictate
